NZ Gazette has been published since 1841 but is only fully available online for issues since 2000. The full catalogue of published NZ Gazettes can be found if you know the year and the page, however, unless you have a subscription to LexusNexus, there's no way to search for key terms/words to find historic public gazette notices before 1993. How is it that one of NZ's most important government publications is not freely available to allow for digital searching without going through LexusNexus,? It shouldn't only be available through a private vendor. What is the government's plan to ensure the public has access to searching via keywords/search terms for this valuable resource?
Opening this data would solve the problem of researching the history of New Zealand, especially our government. Researching dates and specific text of orders and proclamations.
Opening this data would solve this problem by providing access to these Gazette editions online where almost anyone can access them at any time of a day, rather than at a small number of limited-access locations (like the National Library).
