Average wind speed in New Zealand (on and offshore).

There are many datasets available that state the number of days windspeed exceeded a given Beaufort scale value, but none that give an average windspeed for locations in New Zealand. This data would be very useful for preliminary site suitability analyses for renewable electricity.
